About the Designer:

Dave Bowes is a professional electronics engineer with over 40 years of new product design and engineering management experience. He has combined his professional electronics and software design experience, his love of things mechanical and his model engineering hobby to create the EVIC engines. These engines have been designed to demonstrate that low cost micro computer electronics can be used to control the valves on I.C. engines. Every major car and truck manufacturer in the world has worked on electronically actuated valve technology. The author shows in his book and his student guide how this technology can be successfully applied to small single and two cylinder model engines.  To demonstrate how well these engines work he powers radio controlled model boats and airplanes with them.

Dave is retired and living in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. He plans to continue developing his EVIC engines and to enjoy his other hobby interests. He enjoys writing about his designs. He has had articles published by the American Model Yachting Association and Canadian Radio Yachting Association and Strictly IC, Model Engine World and Model Engine Builder magazines.

Dave displays his engines at model engineering shows. He gives seminars at these shows and gives presentations to model engineering clubs. Dave also assists engineering students with valve control projects. For more information contact Dave at: dbowes12@cogeco.ca
